  1. Stargazer Lily

From the recording Stargazer Lily

Listen to radio interview about this songJason sent me a guitar/vocal demo of a half song with nonsense words, asked me if I thought we should develop it, and would I write some lyrics? I loved it immediately and so I said "Yes, of course, you knucklehead you!" I really don't remember much of Jason's original nonsense words, but I do know that I tried to preserve them in spirit as much as possible. But how to do that and create a theme?
Well, it might not be detectable, but this song is basically about my memories of delivering newspapers on my bicycle around the age of 10 during a solar eclipse. I had been informed that looking up at the sun would surely result in blindness, so I scrupulously went about my routine without looking up. I was shocked to see so many people disobeying clear directions and still being able to see days later. Hmm....
Jason recorded this one completely by himself, but I did the reprise that appears later on the disc, cows included.
Mixed and mastered by Jason.

Lyrics

Stargazer Lily

I know I believe, something that you see, nobody’s wrong
Something high in the sky, burning my eyes, gazing too long
If you understand me, my Lily, you can be strong

And the sound makes people look down
They come around
I don’t know

If you listen to me, sweet Lily, I only say
If I listen to you, only true, see for a day

And I bleed red roses for you
Nothing to do
For me

Stargazer
Open hearted Lily
Innocence baby
I’d love to
Make something
Make Lily love me
Half the world can’t see
Staring at the sun

We can color the world, chocolate swirls, everybody’s wrong
Put it back in the car, where you are, where we belong

And I can’t get over you
Out of the blue
Feeling new

Stargazer
Open hearted Lily
Innocence baby
I’d love to
Make something
Make Lily love me
Half the world can’t see
Staring at the sun

Stargazer
Open hearted Lily
Innocence baby
I’d love to
Make something
Make Lily love me
Half the world can’t see
Staring at the sun fraction
Coming out of this one
May discover wisdom
Nectar for the age
