From the recording Innocent Age
I came up with this little ditty some years ago when I needed an upbeat song to play for a little variety show we put on for some local friends. But I never recorded it until now.

Lyrics
Innocent Age
Way back in the days of Lionel trains
Matchbox cars and model planes
I was Mario Andretti on a gold colored Schwinn Stingray
Jumping higher in my PF Flyers, Superman get out of my way
You wanna be in my club, you wanna be in my band?
We’ll build a Lincoln log fort, have our own bandstand
Banging garbage pails, I’m Micky Dolenz and Ringo in one
The Beatles beat the Stones, Motown mowed down bubble-gum
Innocent age, I knew you when
Thinking the day would never end
Turn back the pages, you send me back in my mind
Memories are part of me
Not just what I used to be
Don’t try to set me free of innocent age
Playing on the roof where I should not be
Looking down at the world from the apple tree
Slipping through the fence for a sleigh ride over the moon
Sunday dinner, cherry pie, I’ll be at the table by noon
Children of Biafra I’ll come to rescue you
Brother in Viet Nam will you be home soon
To hear the colors, see the sounds
Taste the feel of safety in my room
Margaret with this ring of grass I thee wed
I’ll be your Mickey Mantle as long as I’m a towhead
I got a color TV, aren’t you glad that you’re my friend
Innocent age, I knew you when
Thinking the day would never end
Turn back the pages, you send me back in my mind
Memories are part of me
Not just what I used to be
Don’t try to set me free of innocent age
Innocent age
Innocent age
Innocent age
Innocent age, knew you when
Innocent age, never end
Innocent age, send me
Innocent age
