Thunderhouse wins 2nd place in Battle of the Bands - November 29, 2010

Thunderhouse won 2nd place in a Battle of the Bands held last night at The Crossroads in Garwood NJ. That means that they move onto the finals, to be held sometime in the spring at a location to be determined. For those of you that don't understand the concept of making a contest out of music, we are just as baffled. Gary and band really just looked at the whole experience as another opportunity to play in front of a new audience. Mission accomplished.

New CD Not For Sale To Minors released - November 12, 2009

Within a week of the release of Beef Wellington and the Mad Cows - Masticated Bovine, Gary's new solo CD Not For Sale To Minors has also been released. The albums were being worked on simultaneously, and production went neck-and-neck down to the finish line. Beef won in the end, but we encourage you to check out Minors for Gary's more serious side - well, not entirely serious, as the last track will demonstrate.

Oh, and by the way, contrary to the title, this music is for people of all ages. Parents don't need their kids' permission to listen.

Thunderhouse personel changes - November 10, 2009

Thunderhouse has re-formed. Since Jason left the band after the band's last gig in September, Chris Steinert was recruited to play drums. Which means that Derek moves up front to guitar, keyboards, and vocals. The band's first rehearsal was 11/09/09, and since it went so swimmingly, it would appear that a chemisty is in place to increase the thunder in the house. Look for a few of the songs from previous performances, plus a ton of new ones. As Paul McCartney sort of once said, "we have to admit we're getting better."

New CD by Gary & Jason Arvanites released - November 9, 2009

The long awaited Beef Wellington and the Mad Cows CD has finally been released. The album title is Masticated Bovine. Check out sound clips, buy the CD, or buy MP3s at CD Baby.

First Thunderhouse gig - July 11, 2009

Thunderhouse played its first gig on 7/11/09 since beginning rehearsals earlier in the year. The outdoor Ringwood NJ show was monumentally successful despite a bit of rain during the second set. The crowd demanded two encores, and clamored for more, but at some point the show has to end! Thanks to everyone who attended at Bohrisch Acres.

Thunderhouse is Gary on guitar, keys, drums, percussion, harmonica and bg vocal, Derek Alt on drums and keys, Larry Hayden on bass and vocals, Jason Arvanites on guitar, keys, vocals and percussion, and Elaine Arvanites on vocals, keys and percussion.

Beef Wellington CD nearly complete - June 23, 2009

Working fast and furiously on a per song basis, it's been a while since we've taken inventory on the overall progress of the project. As it turns out, the CD is nearly complete. Just a few songs left to finish recording, and a couple left to write and record. This one is guaranteed to entertain and move you! Of course, that's not a "money back guarantee", just a personal assurance. But we could be wrong, especially if you're comatose.

Beef Wellington CD progressing nicely - May 12, 2009

The new CD Beef Wellington and the Mad Cows is about half completed. Jason and Gary are working arduously, writing and recording songs for a late 2009 release. The working sub-title of the CD is Masticated Bovine. As the title(s) suggest, this collection promises to entertain musically as well as tickle your funny bone here and there. Will keep you posted.

New Tribute CD available - December 9, 2008

Gary’s latest 2-CD set, Tribute has just been released December 2008. It contains over 30 songs that pay tribute to his main musical influences, including Eric Clapton, The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Paul Simon, Carole King, Hendrix, Jeffrey Gaines, and many others. Available at CD Baby.

Pre-Production on schedule! - November 21, 2008

Gary’s new CD, Tribute, is now in the final production phase, and should be ready for release within a few weeks.

The 2-CD set will feature over 30 new songs that pay homage to his most significant influences. It features everything from the blues of Eric Clapton, Robben Ford, The Allman Brothers, and Stevie Ray Vaughn, to the pop-rock of The Beatles (one song per mop-top), Elvis Costello, and John Fogerty, to the straight-ahead R&R of Chuck Berry, to the soul of Motown, to the pop of Burt Bacharach, Paul Simon, Stevie Wonder, and Carole King, to the acoustic musings of Jorma Kaukonen, Jeffrey Gaines, and David Wilcox, to the bewildering interplay of Cream, to the searing guitar of Jeff Beck and Jimi Hendrix, to the Spanish piano artistry of Chick Corea, to the jazz of Miles Davis and John McLaughlin, to the lunacy of Frank Zappa, to the salsa-tinged guitar wizardry of Santana, to the jazz-influenced pop of Steely Dan, to the category-defying music of October Project, to the vocal harmonies of CSNY... and even a little Peter Sellers thrown in.

New band on its way! - October 26, 2008

A new band named Thunderhouse has risen from the ashes of Rain (or is it the puddles?). The lineup is 3/5 Rain, 2/5 new members: Larry Hayden-bass/vocs, Jason Arvanites-guitar/keyboards/vocs, Elaine Arvanites-keyboards/voc, Derek Alt-drums/keyboards/guitar, Gary-guitar/keyboard/drums/bg vocs. First gig coming soon - will keep you posted!

Permanent Rain Delay - May 17, 2008

Rain performed it's last gig tonight at Fiesta Cancun, Stoney Point NY. Guitarist/singer Jason Arvanites decided to call it quits for personal reasons, and after some discussion it was decided we would all take a sabbatical until further notice. So the core (Larry Hayden-bass/voc, Fabian Santiago-drums, Gary-guitar/keyboard/bg voc) is no more. It was a great gig - thanks everyone for your usual great support. Will let you know when the band re-emerges, and what new monstrous form it may take.
